Our theatrical performance is a collaboratively created theatrical and community event that focuses on nothing less than the question of whether this world is worth being born into, and if so, what are the things worth living for. The source of our inspiration is the character known from the medieval morality play called Everyman, who faces his life before his death. Everybody can be an Everyman, so it is this face-off that has interested us throughout the process of creation. In short scenes, with text, song, dance and music, we flash through the stages of human life – sometimes with humor and irony, sometimes in lyrical or dramatic fashion, but essentially playfully. We will engage our audience primarily through a real-time composition technique called Soundpainting, and after the performance we will invite our audience to a collective but optional community game, giving everyone the opportunity to participate freely.
The piece will appeal to adolescents and adults alike, as both age groups are concerned with the question: what is the meaning of life? What are the things worth living for? The playfulness of the production, its non-intrusive interactivity and its innovative theatrical language make it an exciting and new experience for both ages.
