Legacy is a play about the relationship of Alice Miller, the world-famous childhood researcher and her son, Martin Miller, who is a therapist himself. The play is based on Martin Miller’s book, The true drama of the gidted child, originally published in 2013. This portrayal of the author’s childhood and his mother’s life casts the acclaimed psychologist in a fresh new light, totally different from her public image. Her son experienced a life full of secrets, lies, repression and abuse, while Alice insisted to her own truth. The production aims to asks questions and explore the processes that prevent a mother with extraordinary insight from comprehending her own actions and thus being sensitive to her own child. What can bring about positive changes? The underlying desire of the production is to foster personal and social healing by contributing to the understanding of transgenerational traumas.
